My wife and I usually spend our sundays with her Grandfather. I take the time to catch up on the week’s comics and whatever podcasts or radio shows I’ve missed during the week while I do some light sketching on the side. The following run of drawings was heavily influenced by the Marvel books I went through. You can see what side of the AvX event I lean to. There is also a little Vandal Savage thrown into the mix, just ‘cause.

Sketch Log Here is a shot of another ghost from the past. This is Paige Jackson a Gambler Paladin from the West Wind Song story setting. The basic concept was created by Joe Vazquez. From that our art group began developing characters and stories and this is the one I came up with. The image is based on a still from the movie High Noon with Gary Cooper.

What I am adverse to, is not the idea of a complex entity springing out of nothingness. It is the fallacious imaginings we humans create in order to qualify the existence of a god. Both concepts of creationism and evolution have the same impassable flaw, at some point in time something came from nothing. The argument of the jumbo jet springing up from random parts is evidence that both sides are incapable of completely proving or disproving their arguments. The jumbo jet may be there, it may not be there, but whether or not the thing is there, the true question is… where did it come from in the first place, and how.

Sketch Log Today I went back in time. I was going through the old sketches and designs I had in my backups and came across a sketch for a character named Gorto Barradas, the butcher of Aquila 3. The sketch is from around february 2000. The concept behind the character was that he was the reigning champion of an illegal intergalactic pit fighting ring based out of an abandoned penal station in the Aquila system. Today’s sketch is an attempt to update the design while sticking to the things that made me want to make him in the first place.
